Barbara Jean Woodworth, age 84, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2016. Graveside funeral services will be held Monday, April 11th at 2:00 p.m. at the Shepherd Cemetery.
Barbara was born May 16, 1932 to John and Matilda Erlewine in Madrid, NE. She graduated from High School in Grant, NE and then met the love of her life, Lester Woodworth. They were married April 2, 1950. They ranched in South Dakota and in 1967 moved to Glendive, MT where they ranched until they retired and moved to Billings. They are now reunited and probably kicking up their heels on the dance floor.
Mom was a hard worker, both on and off the ranch. She was a great cook and knew how to feed a branding crew. If you showed up at her house at meal time she made sure you never left hungry. She dedicated herself to Eastmont Human Services, working with special needs people and retired after 22 years of service. She played the piano, loved to embroider and crochet and volunteered at St Vincents Hospital. She enjoyed meeting people and visiting with all of her rodeo and team roping friends. Most of all, she loved being a Mom and Grandma. If there was a way to spoil a grandchild she would find a way.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lester, her sister Lou Vene Erlewine and daughter Janice Austby. She is survived by her remaining children, Leon, Teresa (John) Madsen, Irma (Kelly) Meland and Gary, sister Darlene Stinnette, 10 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Alzheimers Foundation or American Cancer Society.
