Theresa was born on October 29, 1922 in Regina, Saskatchewan, a daughter of Francis and Lucie (Westgate) Daly. Lucie owned and operated a Coffee and Tea Business, so as a family they resided in several different towns while Theresa was growing up. Theresa met a wonderful person who was like a mother figure to her, Camille Dickson. She graduated from Broadway High School in Seattle, Wash. in 1940. Following high school, Theresa furthered her education attending college at Washington State University in Pullman, Wash.
While attending a dance in Olympia, Wash., Theresa met a Ft. Lewis soldier named Robert Appleby. He was a WWII soldier that left for war shortly after they met. Theresa and Bob stayed in contact while he was away and he was honorably discharged from service in 1945. Following his return from service, Theresa and Bob were united in marriage on November 23, 1945 in Glendive where they made their home together.
Theresa worked in the Montana Loan and Title office in Glendive for over thirty years before retiring. She and Bob also owned and operated Appleby Hardware for many years. Theresa had a strong faith and the UCC was very important to her throughout her life. Theresa was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the UCC Church Circle and the homemaker’s Club. She volunteered as a Pink Lady for the hospital auxiliary, a 4-H Leader and she was a blue ribbon pie maker.
She was the best wife, mother, sister, aunt and mother-in-law anyone could ask for. Theresa was a very family oriented person, very caring and loving to anyone that she knew. Every year Theresa had a beautiful rose garden that just thrived. She always gifted her beautiful roses to people. When she was 80, Theresa went on an Alaskan Cruise and cherished every moment of it. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Bob Appleby in 1984; nieces, Judy Appleby Green and Pat Appleby Schipman; and her loving mother figure, Camille Dickson.
She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Appleby Larson (Jay) of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; sister, Marjorie Hyatt Jenna (Harry) of Olympia, Wash.; neices, Terri Hyatt House (Al) of Olympia, Wash., Suzy Hyatt Slining (Tom) of Renton, Wash. and Heidi Hyatt Koesterman (John) of Spokane, Wash.; nephews, Frank Hyatt (Suki) of Lacey, Wash. and Mike Appleby of Ennis, Mont.; and nephew-in-law, Wes Green.
