Clarence “Clancy” Glaser, aged 84, of Glendive, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at his home.
Visitation was held on Monday, December 21, 2015 from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Rosary Service was held at 7 p.m. on Monday, December 21, 2015 at the Silha Funeral Home in Glendive followed by mass of Christian Burial which was held on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glendive with Father Francis Schreiber officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Dawson Memorial cemetery in Glendive. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive have been entrusted with the arrangements.
Clarence was born on January 29, 1931 in Mandan, N.D. to Nicholas and Mary (Fischer) Glaser. He was educated through the eighth grade in Glen Ullin and worked on a farm. Clarence was drafted into the United States Army on November 16, 1951. He served through the Korean Conflict and achieved the rank of Corporal. On August 15, 1953 he was discharged from service at Walters Air Force Base in Texas and returned to North Dakota. Clarence received the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal during his military service. Clarence returned to North Dakota and went to work for Burlington Northern Railroad for the next forty plus years until his retirement as a conductor in 1993.
On October 8, 1953 Clarence was united in marriage to Gladys (Emter) in Glen Ullin, N.D. and from this union five children were born; Sandy, Kathy, Jeff, Kelvin and Todd. Clarence was involved with the VFW in Glendive and was part of the BNSF Union. He took pride in his yard and garden. He was known for his unique laugh which will never be forgotten by many. Clarence enjoyed going to the Minnesota Twins games and always tried to get to sporting events at local ballparks in Glendive. Clarence dearly loved his grandchildren which in turn they loved him very much.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Gladys Glaser; daughters, Sandy (Paul) Bartholomew of Dickinson, N.D. and Kathy Glaser of Bismarck, N.D.; sons, Jeff Glaser of Dickinson, N.D., Kelvin (Jane) Glaser of Gillette, Wyo. and Todd (Wendy) Glaser of Glasgow; brothers, Gene (Delores) Glaser of Dickinson, N.D., Tom (Bridget) Glaser of Dickinson, N.D., Dan (Carrie) Glaser of Vancouver, Wash. and Alvin (Rosemary) Glaser of Bismarck, N.D.; sister, Ann Hondl of Bismarck, N.D.; thirteen grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
