Victor Vega Cabrales, age 70, of Richey passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at the Glendive Medical Center in Glendive.
Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at St. Frances deSales Catholic Church in Richey with a Rosary service being held at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at St. Frances deSales Catholic Church in Richey with Father Navil Rodriguez officiating. Rite of Committal will follow in the Richey Cemetery. Silha Funeral Home of Richey has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Victor was born on April 13, 1947 to Angel Vega Labra and Remedios Cabrales Vega in Vega de Cien, Cangas de Onis, Asturias, Spain. He was raised and educated through the eighth grade in Spain. After his schooling, Victor stayed on the family ranch helping his family until he was nineteen when he served his required six months in the Spanish Army. In 1973, Victor came to the United States on a sheep herding contract. He started in Idaho and later moved to Nevada, California, and in 1994 he moved to Richey where he worked for the Pasture Creek Inc. Ranch where he continued to work until the time of his death.
Victor loved people, he was always the life of the party and you could count on him pulling pranks whenever the opportunity arose. He enjoyed spending time with kids, working and hunting, and socializing with anyone that would listen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Jose and Fermin.
Victor is survived by his brother, Angel Vega (Clara) of Spain; his sister, Regina Vega Cabrales (Florentino) of Spain; his brother, Antonio Vega Cabrales (Beni) of Spain; his sister, Milagros Vega (Aurelio) of France; his special niece whom he spoke of often, Pili Vega of Spain; numerous other nieces and nephews; Victor did not have any children, but he was grandfather to Mataya, Austin, Izak and Avery Veverka; he was very, very proud to be Izak Veverka’s Godfather; he is also survived by his many close friends in the Richey and Bloomfield area that he considered family.
