Norman came from humble beginnings, coming from a family of thirteen. He was born on August 1, 1932, in Glendive, a son of Olof and Syble (Olson) Anderson. Norman was raised on the family farm by Union and educated in Glendive where he attended high school at Dawson County High School and graduated with the class of 1950. While he was in high school, Norman excelled in track, baseball and football. In 1949 and 1950, he was on the high school football team when they were State Champions. He worked at the bowling alley as a pin setter earning seven cents a line and he also worked at the pool hall during his high school years.

Norman married Gail Buell on July 13, 1957 in Circle and to this union three children were born. He later married Esther Kalmback on November 8, 1991 in Billings. Norman was a hard working man who farmed and ranched most of his life. This year would have been Norman’s 65th year combining. He loved the farm and operating the combine. In his later years he enjoyed playing golf, bowling and visiting neighbors. Norman always looked forward to that call  from a friend asking him if he’d like to play a round of golf. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and ASCS Board.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Eric Anderson; and ten brothers and sisters.
