Florence Marie Leaf, age 83, of Glendive, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Glendive Medical Center. 

Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Glendive with Pastor Will Johnson and Reverend Avis Anderson officiating. Interment will be held in Dawson County Cemetery in Glendive. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Florence was born on September 10, 1933 in Glendive, to parents Toni and Lena Hangs. She grew up and went to school in Glendive, and graduated from Dawson County High School with the class of 1951. She met Jim Leaf, and the couple was married on April 11, 1954 in Glendive. To this union, two children were born, a son, Steve, and a daughter, Patti. Florence was employed throughout her life with Lincoln School as a cook. She worked for the school until retirement.

Florence enjoyed anything crafty, doing puzzles, watching game shows, camping, fishing and going out for coffee.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, Toni and Lena; her husband, Jim; and grandson, Dustin.

Florence is survived by her children, Steve of Missouri and Patti of Glendive; grandchildren, Andrew, of Glendive and Shauna (Louie) of Williston, N.D.; and great-grandchildren, Raven, Xander and Jaxson.

Leroy “Elroy” Goroski, age 57, of Glendive, passed away on Friday, February 3, 2017 at the Glendive Medical Center in Glendive. 

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Leroy was born on March 3, 1959 in Glendive, to parents Larry and Marion (Carlson) Goroski. He grew up and went to school in Glendive, and graduated from Dawson County High School. Leroy worked several jobs during his life being employed by Trail Star Casino, the railroad, Crisafulli Pumps, McDonalds, Sur Transport, and cleaned at the Eastern Montana Veteran’s Home in Glendive.

Leroy enjoyed artwork, hunting, fishing and golfing at Cow Patty Links. He very much enjoyed mowing the golf course and keeping up the county fairgrounds parking area wearing out several weed eaters. The highlight of his year was Saint Patrick’s Day where he wanted to be mayor for the day. In fact he often referred to himself as the mayor of Intake while paddlefishing. He loved music and played in several bands. Leroy had a passion for dogs and loved every dog that had the pleasure of making his acquaintance. 

Leroy  was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Marion; and grandparents.

Leroy is survived by his two brothers, Doug (JoAnn) Goroski and Mark (Toni) Goroski, all of Glendive; nephews, Kevin (Julia) Goroski, their children, Hailey and Kody of Butte, Bryon Goroski of Colstrip, and Eric (Charlotte) Goroski of Bozeman; niece, Amanda (Jake) Hartwig of Watertown, South Dakota; and close friend, Tami Lee.

Michael R. Grove, 60, of Altoona, Pa. died unexpectedly late Friday evening February 3, 2017 at UPMC Emergency Department, Altoona, Pa.

He was born Jan. 27, 1957 in Huntingdon, Pa., son of the late William V. Grove, Sr. and Thelma I. (Hainsey) Dixon.   On March 31, 2012 he married Elaine K. Knowles at Pinecroft United Methodist Church in Pinecroft, Pa.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Steven M. (Naomi) of Wibaux and Timothy D. (Shana) of Altoona, Pa.; three grandchildren, Zayda, Alesca and Lydia; two brothers, William V., Jr. of Rock Hill, S.C. and James R. of Martinsburg, Pa.; a sister, Elizabeth G. Isett of State College, Pa.; and former wife, Sharon Williamson Pearce of Glendive.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jesse W.; and a brother, Kenneth R. Grove.

Michael was a 1974 graduate of Tussey Mountain High School and a US Air Force veteran serving from 1977-1980. Michael lived in Glendive from 1981-2001 where he was an employee of the US Postal Service. He later retired as an assembler at JLG Industries, Inc. McConnellsburg, Pa.  

He was a member of Pinecroft United Methodist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. He especially enjoyed watching his three sons play baseball when they were growing up and he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Pinecroft United Methodist Church with  Rev. Peter Dittman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions in Michael’s memory be made to Pinecroft United Methodist Church.

Ernest Mullet, age 92, peacefully passed away in Great Falls on Monday, February 6, at 3:38 p.m. His wife Ruth and members of the family were present for the loving send off on the heavenly journey dad anticipated with great faith and confidence.

His earthly sojourn began on a cold and blustery day on the windswept plains of Eastern Montana’s Morgan Table. On January 10, 1925 a pair of tiny lungs, belonging to the seventh and eighth children of an Amish couple, David and Maude Mullet, protested their rude entrance into the world on such a day. Within two weeks of her arrival, Little Esther, Ernest’s twin, succumbed to pneumonia, but Ernest grew up to be the husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather we have come to know and love.

Ernest was preceded in death by his parents; and eight siblings, Hank, Florence, Tim, Roy, Lloyd, Bill, Esther (twin), and Mary Mullet Nissley.

All are invited to share in a celebration of his life and legacy to our family. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Silha Funeral Home in Glendive on Friday February 10, 2017. Interment will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the Red Top Mennonite Church Cemetery. The memorial service of celebration and singing will be held at the church following the interment and is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. The Red Top Mennonite Church is located five miles East of Bloomfield. All are welcome. 

Mabel E. Kaul, age 88, of Glendive, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at the Glendive Medical Center Extended Care in Glendive. 

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday, February 13, 2017 at the Glendive Evangelical Church of North America in Glendive. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 13, 2017 at the Glendive Evangelical Church of North America with Pastor David Steinbron officiating. Interment will be held in Dawson County Cemetery in Glendive. Silha Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Mabel was born  on March 15, 1928 on the family farm in New England, N.D., to parents John Paul and Cora Mae (Mitchell) Elmquist. She was raised and educated in New England, and graduated high school with the class of 1946. After high school, she worked and traveled with her sisters all across the country, including the states of Virginia and Iowa. She moved to Dickinson, N.D. and worked for Woolworths, where she met Richard Kaul. The two were married on September 6, 1954 in Dickinson. To this union, two daughters were born; Janet and Sherry. The family moved to Glendive, where Mabel raised her family. She lived in the same house for 55 years, until her health forced her to move.

Mabel enjoyed crocheting, cooking, gardening, singing with the choir, canning her produce, sewing and taking care of her family. She and Richard were members of the Glendive Evangelical Church and had a very strong faith and commitment to their Lord and Savior.

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; two sisters, Myrtle Elmquist and Edith Hodges; and three brothers, Walter Elmquist, Warren Elmquist and Raymond Elmquist.

Mabel is survived by her children, Janet (Les) Snovelle of Helena and Sherry Weaver of Glendive; four grandchildren, Angee (Jon) Steir of Great Falls, Cory (Rebel) Rilley of Conrad, Mont., Casey (Desirae) Rilley of Glendive, and  Misty Rilley of Billings; six great-grandchildren, Kayla Steir, Jesse Steir, Emily Rilley, Kohen Rilley, Kennedy Rilley, and Jentry Rilley; sister, Mildred (Harold) Ockinga, of Lakewood, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Terrance “Terry” E. Bronson, age 78, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017 in Glendive. 

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Terry was born on August 18, 1938 in Glendive to parents Lawrence and Dora (Barr) Bronson. He was raised and educated in Glendive, and graduated high school with the class of 1956. After high school, Terry joined the U.S. Navy in San Diego, Calif., and was stationed in Japan. He was honorably discharged in 1960. Terry married Geraldine Hill in 1957, and to this union three children were born; Teri Lee, Bradley and Robert. This marriage later ended in divorce. Terry moved back to Glendive, and worked at a variety of jobs including the oilfield, KXGN, Midrivers, Tab Electronics and Motorola- which moved the family to Billings and later to Kennewick, Wash., before returning to Glendive. Terry started working as an electrician with the railroad until he retired in 1979. He met Mary Lamon and the two were married on February 14, 1999 in Las Vegas, Nev. He gained a step-daughter, Jodi, through this marriage. The couple resided in Glendive until the time of his passing.

Terry was an avid agate hunter, and was exceptionally talented at cutting and polishing the rocks he found. He enjoyed fishing, bow fishing and yard work. He was very well read and kept up with current events and enjoyed discussing politics. He loved watching football, especially if the Green Bay Packers were playing.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Bronson; and sister, Cherlyn Petersen.

Terry is survived by his wife, Mary of Glendive; children, Teri Lee (Marty) Riedlinger of Rapid City, S.D., Bradley (Deb) Bronson of Sheridan, Wyo., Robert Bronson of Glendive; step-daughter, Jodi (Jason) Halvorson of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; brothers, Rodney Bronson of Glendive, and Randy Bronson of Glendive; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Edna Atkinson, age 94, of Circle, passed away in Billings on Sunday, February 12, 2017.

Milliard Anthony Workman, age 27, of Glendive, formerly of Inez, Ky., passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017 in Billings.

Anna (Nissley) Kauffman, age 96, of Glendive, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the Glendive Extended Care with her family by her side. 

Graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Red Top Cemetery in Bloomfield. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Anna was born on September 5, 1920 in Bloomfield. She was one of seven children of Daniel and Lydia (Yoder) Nissley.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford in 2004. 

She is survived by seven children, 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one sister. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Mary “Chris” Christine Harsha, age 64, of Glendive, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017 at the Glendive Medical Center Extended Care in Glendive. 

A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Febraury 24, 2017 at the Sacred Heart Church in Glendive. A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Sacred Heart Church in Glendive with Father Francis Schreiber officiating. Chris was born on February 19, 1953 in Rock Springs, Wyo. to parents Emil and Helen (Healey) Gaensslen. She was raised and educated in Green River, and graduated from Green River High School with the class of 1972. She married her high school sweetheart, Henry Harsha, on February 17, 1973 in Green River. To this union, 3 children were born. Chris worked various job, but her main job was taking care of her family. She lived in Green River for most of her life, until in 2016 she and Henry moved to Glendive to be closer to their son.

Chris enjoyed anything that took her outdoors, including fishing, camping and hunting. She loved to visit the family ranch and travel. She also enjoyed crocheting. Chris enjoyed her life and was a fighter- she never let her multiple sclerosis get in her way.

Chris was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Heidi Lynn Harsha-Beck; and her brother, John Gaesslen.

Chris is survived by her husband, Henry Harsha of Glendive; sons, Joey (Misty) Harsha of Glendive and Patrick Harsha of Casper, Wyo.; 3 grandchildren, Aspen Michelle Beck, Karter Douglas Jordan, and Kyle Gene Jordan; sister, Nona (Ken) Hemphill of Scottsdale, Ariz.; brother, Dr. Patrick (Carmen) Gaensslen of Green River; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Verna Lorraine Haggerty, age 88, of Lindsay, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2016 at Eastern Montana Veterans Home in Glendive.  

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in Glendive with Pastor Ruth McKenzie officiating. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery south of Lindsay.  Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Lorraine was born on April 11, 1928 in Glendive to Alfred and Naoma (Glasscock) Colby. She was the oldest of three children. Her father passed away when she was six and her mother later married Frank Eaton and to this union five more siblings were born. Lorraine was raised and educated in Glendive where she attended Dawson County High School. Following her education she met and married Daniel “Dan” G. Haggerty on March 23, 1944 in Glendive. Lorraine stayed busy raising their eight children. She would help Dan whenever it was needed, later in life, she worked several jobs outside her home including, a receptionist for the Isle of Beauty Salon owned by her sister Betty Huskinson, H&R Block, cleaning the Lindsay School, and the relief Postmistress at the Lindsay Post Office. Lorraine resided in Lindsay until she moved to Glendive in November 2015 and later to the Eastern Montana Veterans Home in May 2016 where she resided until her passing.

Lorraine enjoyed sewing, weaving, crocheting, knitting, quilting, reading and baking. She loved playing Scrabble and doing crossword puzzles. Lorraine was a very kind, gentle and honest woman who had a soft heart and a quiet intelligence. She loved her family and rarely missed any of their activities.  

Lorraine was a member of the Women’s Society of Christian Service, Women of the Moose Lodge, Weavers Guild, Clear Creek Homemakers Club and the United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Daniel “Dan”; two sons, Patrick “Pat” and Larry “Butchie”; one daughter, Judith Parrish; four sisters; two brothers; three granddaughters; one grandson; and one son-in-law.

Lorraine is survived by five children, Carol (Ike) Robinson of Moyie Springs, Idaho, Diane Lovaas of Glendive, Mike (Yvonda) Haggerty of Glendive, Jeff (Vickie) Haggerty of Billings, and Anne (Bill) Sadorf of Glendive; two daughters-in-law, Carolee Haggerty of Texas and Lois Haggerty of Glendive; twenty-eight grandchildren;  eighteen great grandchildren; one brother, Jack (Susie) Eaton of Billings; one sister-in-law, Joan Dann of Alabama; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Barbara Ann Hansen, 75, died Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Blair House in Burlington, Iowa.

Born July 30, 1941 in Devils Lake, N.D., she was the daughter of Ernest Oliver and Elda Beatrice Holm Ramberg. On August 11, 1963, she married William Hansen, making their home in Glendive.

She graduated from high school in Edmore, N.D. and teacher’s college in Mayville, N.D. Mrs. Hansen was a school teacher and after raising her family, she owned and operated a bakery in Glendive.

After retiring, she traveled with her husband, Bill, settling in Iowa in 2010 to be closer to her sister.

Survivors include her daughter, Billie Jo (Troy) Lobdell of Decatur, Texas; her son, Paul (Lisa) Hansen of North Branch, Minn.; one sister, Mona (Don) Engebretson of Middletown, Iowa; granddaughters, Kylie and Tori Lobdell and Ashley King; grandsons, Alex King and Jacob Hansen; and a special nephew, Michael Engebretson. 

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

According to her wishes, cremation has been accorded and there will be no services for Barbara Ann Hansen.  Inurnment will be held at a later date at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Glendive. 

A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice, West Burlington.  Elliott Chapel, New London, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Walter John Hinebauch, Jr.  went to spend eternity with his Lord and Savior February 20, 2017.  Although he had been suffering from Pulmonary Fibrosis, his passing was sudden. Walter was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His family meant the world to him and everything he did was for his family. Walter was 83 years young.

Walter was born to Walter Hinebauch, Sr. and Martha Miller Hinebauch, the 4th of 7 children, on November 28, 1933, on the family farm near Eastend, Saskatchewan, Canada. He moved with his family from Eastend to Chinook, Mont., on January 1, 1945. That spring they moved to a leased farm near Cottonwood school north of Havre. This is where Walter finished his grade school education.  Walter worked with his father during the farming seasons & various jobs in the winters.

Walter met Edith Marie Ludtke, a country school teacher, and they were married March 29, 1952. They resided in Havre, farming with his parents until 1957. They then purchased the Statelen Farms in Turner, Mont. Walt & Edith were immersed into Christ by a cowboy preacher named Orin Hardenbrook in Turner in the late 50’s. From then on, the Church was an important part of his life. It was important that his family was in attendance and he lived his faith in his daily life. In August, 1980, they moved to Glendive to continue farming and ranching. They later formed and operated their famous X hangin’ H Ranch Cattle Drives & hunting trips on the ranch. They had guests from all over the world and many new, dear friendships were made. Walt was an avid reader and loved Montana history. If you needed to know anything in the history department, Walt was the man to ask.

Walter enjoyed the camaraderie of his coffee group, playing cards at the Senior Center and visiting with friends and family. A highlight of his life was going on a hunting safari in Africa in 2012.

Walter was preceded in death by the love of his life of 59 years, Edith; his parents; a brother, Roy Calvin; sisters, Dorothy Nelubowich and Velma Stuber; and grandson, Shane Hinebauch.

Walter is survived by his nine children, Randy (Lisa) Hinebauch of Chinook, Mont., Steve (Beth) Hinebauch of Wibaux, Loren (Mary) Hinebauch of Miles City, Cathy Luke of Chester, Mont., Carla (Mark) Roseberry of Billings, Calvin (Marian) Hinebauch of Henderson, Nev., Don (Tammie) Hinebauch of Huntley, Mont., Ida (Ryan) Pawlowski of Circle, and Mary Ellen (Jim) Nagle of Lindsay;  35 grandchildren & 37 great-grandchildren….with four more on the way!  Walter is also survived by sisters, Gladys Klundt of Whitefish, Linda Hinebauch of Great Falls, and brother Bill (Linda) of Yuma, Ariz.

There will be a viewing on Monday, February 27, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Shila Funeral Home in Glendive. Funeral services will be held on February 28, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Glendive Alliance Church with burial in the Dawson Memorial Cemetery.

Marjorie was born April 13, 1934 and went to be with her one true love, Jimmy Patterson on February 13, 2017.  

Marge was born in Glendive to Inez and Pete Konig. Marge married Jimmy Patterson on August  12, 1950. The two of them shared a love like no other. They spent their whole lives together building memories that will never be forgotten by anyone who knew them. Marge and Jim moved from Mont. to the Spokane Valley early in their marriage and that’s where they planted their roots for over 50 years. Marge loved the spring time and all the beautiful things that came with it, the flowers, the fresh grass, and the sound of Gus the donkey braying from the back yard to her.

She is survived by her four children, Darlene, Wayne, Bev and Pete.  Jim and Marge also have five grandchildren, Gerald, Tiffany, Sarah, Timmy and Justin. She was preceded in death by grandson Ryan. They also have nine great grandchildren, Tyler, Caitlyn, Presley, Brendon, Rylee, Spencer, Rhyan, Allie and Charlee. She is survived by her sister Virginia and their beloved dog Flossie, and was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy.

Marge had a contagious laugh and a mouth that would make a sailor blush, and that’s what we loved about her. She spent her working years owning her own drapery shop. She will be missed greatly by all the people who knew her. She was a loving mother and the absolute best grandmother. We are sad to say goodbye, but knowing she will be in Jimmy’s arms once again brings peace and happiness to all of us.

Viewing and service were held at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA on February 24, 2017.  Viewing from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. and service was held at 11 a.m.

Diana Mydland, age 69, of Glendive, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017 at the Glendive Medical Center in Glendive.

Diana was born on August 11, 1947 to parents John and Georgette (Wambeke) Fink. When she was a young girl the family moved to Laurel, where she was raised and educated. Following her education, she met and married Vernon Mydland on December 3, 1965 in Laurel. To this union 2 daughters were born. This marriage later ended in divorce. Diana raised her family where ever the railroad took them in Wyo., until the family moved to Glendive in 1996, where she resided until the time of her passing. While in Glendive she helped manage the Riverside Inn for a few years before retiring.

Diana was an amazing mother and a wonderful cook. She always kept a clean house. She loved her family and followed her grandchildren in their lives and activities, and always had at least one grandchild visiting her. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and watching movies.

Diana was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Arnold Fink; and sisters, Georgette Dillinger and Shirley Nash.

Diana is survived by her daughters Erin (Troy) Kaufman of Glendive and Lisa (Shane) Almond of Glendive; grandchildren, Travis (fiance Alex Hellman) Kaufman of Dickinson, N.D., Kendra Kaufman of Glendive, Brittany Kaufman of Glendive, Tyler Almond of Glendive, Tanar Almond of Glendive, and Jackson Almond of Glendive; siblings, Terry (Jackie) Fink of Laurel, Ted (LaVonne) Fink of Billings, Glen (Linda) Fink of Columbus, and Fred (Chuckie) Fink of Billings; sister-in-law, Joyce Fink of Billings; brother-in-law, Neal Nash of Billings; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Laurine Schmidt, age 88, passed away on February 25, 2017 at the McCone County Nursing Home in Circle.

Laurine was born on March 18, 1928 to Daniel and Katharina Hintz in Fairview. She had an older brother, Otto. She attended school in Fairview until the family moved to Circle. It was then that Laurine met her future husband, Robert Schmidt. They were married on October 11, 1944. They farm/ranched in the Brockway area for many years. To this union 4 children were born, Roberta, Larry, Roger and Roscoe.  During these years Laurine was always found at Robert’s side working with their registered Hereford cattle. She milked cows and had chickens. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren. Robert passed away in 1978 and after that Laurine enjoyed many clubs and interests.

Laurine was a member and officer in the Round Circle Cowbelles, Brockway Homemakers and County Homemakers Council, lifetime member of VFW Auxiliary 4813, Circle and treasurer for many years, McCone County Senior Citizens, German’s From Russia, and was a member of the First Lutheran Church. She loved playing cards and even when not feeling the best, never missed the card playing at the Senior Center and at the Brockway Supper Club. She loved seeing her grandchildren in any activities, especially music.  All of her grandchildren were very special to her and she was loved much by all of them. She always had many pictures to show off and was thrilled with each new baby born.

Laurine was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Otto; husband, Robert; and children Roberta and Roger.  

She is survived by her sons,  Larry (Sheri) and Roscoe (Sharon); grandchildren,  Larry Sartin, Laurie Curtiss, Deanne Klimes, Lisa Fritz, Kellie Jensen, Darcie Holmlund, Katherine Schmidt, Rhonda Taylor, Susan Sartin, Jessica Bradley, Tanya Giop, Tiffaney Schmidt, Brandon Schmidt, Robbie Cain and Sharyl Jessee; many great and great-great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Lydia Maier; and a brother-in-law, Harold Schmidt; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 1 to 6 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Circle with family receiving friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Circle. Interment will follow on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Glendive. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Circle is in charge of the arrangements.

Jerry Dale Schwindt, age 69, of Glendive passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at the Billings Clinic in Billings.  

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Interment will be held in the Dawson Memorial Cemetery at a later date.  Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Jerry was born on January 10, 1948 to John and Elizabeth “Betty” (Ermantraut) Schwindt in Baker. He was raised and educated in Baker where he attended Baker High School. Following his education, Jerry began working in the oilfields of eastern Mont. He worked as a rig hand, truck driver and various other positions with several different companies throughout the years. Jerry moved to Glendive in 1978 where he continued working in the oilfield until 1994 when he started working for Glendive Sales Corporation. He continued to work for Glendive Sales until 2014 when his health forced him to retire.

Jerry was united in marriage to Sue Nentwig on December 31, 1983 in Glendive and with this union he found his perfect camping and fishing partner with whom he would enjoy the next thirty-three years.

Jerry enjoyed camping and fishing, telling jokes and being with his family and friends around a campfire. He could usually be found tinkering and pitter puttering around his garage, making crafts out of metal or wood that would always make unique gifts for his family and friends. Jerry was a brave and selfless man, his family is extremely proud of how he handled his illness and never let it get the best of him. They will all miss him and are honored to have called him husband, dad, grandpa and friend.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; children, Elizabeth “Lisa” Schwindt and Jerry Sue Schwindt; step-son, Travis Crow; brother, Johnny Schwindt; sister, Janice Connolly; and father-in-law, Ray Nentwig.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Schwindt of Glendive; three children, Billie Jo (Craig) Stebbins of Glendive, Jeremy (Camille) Schwindt of Glendive and Samantha (fiance Chase Colbrese) Schwindt of Billings; eight grandchildren, Shalene (Michael Goodale) Ulrich of Glendive, Sarah Harris of Laurel, Kaitlyn Ulrich of Glendive, Tyler (Jennie Smith) Ulrich of Glendive, Ciara (Christopher) Pacult of St.Louis, Miss., Caleb Schwindt of Glendive, Elizabeth “Lizzy” Schwindt of Glendive and Brittnee Schwindt of Glendive; five great-grandchildren, Brock, Taevin, Phenix, Oakley and Elliot; four siblings, Dick (Dawna) Schwindt of Bridger, Mont., Loretta (Jimmy) Walters of Walters, Okla., Ray Schwindt of Ely, Nev. and Bill (Arleen) Schwindt of Blanchard, Okla.; brother-in-law, Bill Connolly of Hardin; mother-in-law, Rose Nentwig of Glendive; special cousin, Chuck Schwindt of Billings; three brothers and sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kathleen Hodous, age 68, of Glendive, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at the Billings Clinic in Billings.

Mary “Chris” Christine Harsha, age 64, of Glendive, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017 at the Glendive Medical Center in Glendive.
