Shortly after her birth the family moved to Bergen, N.D. on the family homestead and several years later moved to Velva, N.D. where she graduated from Velva High School with the class of 1949. Following her high school education she attended Minot State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. After completing her education, Carol taught in Willow City, N.D. for one year and then taught at the Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, S.D. for another year. In 1957, Carol moved to Glendive where she worked in the school system as a teacher, a counselor and as the school psychologist until her retirement in 1993. While in Glendive she met Joseph Friederichs. They were married on June 18, 1963 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glendive, and to this union two daughters were born, Marie and Ann. Early in their marriage, Joe and Carol spent their summers in Glacier National Park where Joe was a park ranger. Joe and Carol made their home in Glendive. Joe passed away in 2006. In 2011 Carol decided to move to Sidney to be closer to her daughter and favorite son-in-law. She resided at The Lodge in Sidney where she made many friends including staff and residents. She enjoyed her time there.
Carol enjoyed reading, camping and fishing, and was an avid sports fan, particularly professional tennis and football. She also had a big heart for animals, especially dogs and cats. Carol loved visiting with friends and was always interested in getting to know people.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chris and Mabel; and her husband, Joseph.
