Loving father and husband, James C. Eaton, passed away on September 6, 2016 in Tacoma, Wash., surrounded by his family.

Jim was born May 9, 1942 in Glendive to Frank A. and Naoma (Glasscock) Eaton and raised on the family farm in the Union Community, attending school at Clear Creek School and Glendive schools. He enlisted in the Navy in 1959, where he was a courier, delivering correspondence all over the world, and was honorably discharged in 1963.

Jim moved to Kent, Wash. in 1963 and went to work at Heath Techna, Inc as a machinist, mentored by his cousin, Vern Eaton. In 1967, Jim bought his infamous 1967 Camaro - #7 off the line delivered to Washington, which he raced and showed at many car shows. It is still beautiful! He participated in Hustlers Car Club in Glendive and the Maple Valley Street Rats in Maple Valley, Wash., which generated financial scholarships to deserving students going on to automotive schools following high school.

Jim married his wife Roslynn in August 9, 1970.  They owned and operated Eaton Service Inc. until selling the business in 2004. He had many faithful customers, whom he often talked of. He will be missed by all of them, his family and friends.

Jim is survived by his wife of 46 years, Roslynn of Covington, Wash.; two daughters, Stephanie Ann Hulse and her husband John of Tonasket, Wash. and Vicki Lynn Belmore and her husband Rick of Bonnie Lake, Wash.; sister, Lorraine Haggerty of Glendive; brother, Jack Eaton and his wife Susan of Billings;  as well as grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ora Westrom, Francze Nordin, Pat Travis, Gayle (Richey) Schaffel, Janice Krausz and Betty Huskinson; and brothers, Cecil Eaton and Bob Colby.

Burial will be at the Union Cemetery on September 25, 2016 at 12:30 followed by a celebration of Jim’s life at the Union Hall. The main dish will be provided. A potluck salad or dessert would be appreciated.

Should friends desire, memorials can be made to The Union Hall or a charity of choice.

We welcome any family or friends who would like to celebrate Jim’s life - well lived!
