Roy “Blackie” Lemoine, age 90, of Glendive, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the Glendive Medical Center Extended Care in Glendive.

A memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the Silha Funeral Home in Glendive with Pastor Dan Pust officiating. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Blackie was born on November 12, 1926 in Montgomery, La. to Joseph and Isabell (Thomasse) Lemoine. He was raised and educated in Montgomery. He moved to Glendive and worked in the oilfield for McGee Drilling as a foreman until his retirement in 1985. After his retirement he worked as a maintenance man for the Super 8 and Kings Inn Hotel. He met his wife Terri at the Jordan, and they were married January 9, 2004.

Blackie enjoyed fishing and camping, but most importantly, his life revolved around his family. He took Justin to Head Start and ate breakfast and lunch with him every day. With having 5 children came the challenge of entertaining all of their friends that came and went throughout the years. It was a challenge that Blackie gladly accepted with a smile on his face. He cared for each and every one of them as if they were his own. Which is why, to this day, he is still known as Dad. Blackie’s world got bigger and smile got brighter with the birth of each and every grandchild thereafter. His true passion in life was his family.

Blackie was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Joe (Frances)Lemoine and Geneva (Troy) Evans.

Blackie is survived by his wife, Terri of Glendive; his children, Maria (Brenda) Cox of Absarokee, Mont., V.J. Najera of Glendive, Amber (Patrick) Silvers of Wibaux, Krissy (Todd) Amsbaugh of Glendive, and “his baby boy” Justin Lemoine of Wapeton, N.D.; grandchildren, Kaylee Najera, Marina Najera, Daceyn Najera, Belle Cox, Jensyn Amsbaugh, Kayson Amsbaugh, Jamison Amsbaugh, and Zoey Silvers; siblings, J.R. Lemoine, Elizabeth Harris of Hobbs, N.M., Donnie Moore of Cold Springs, Texas, and Sally (Donald) Wilson of Crockett, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Remembrances and condolences may be shared with the family at: www.silhafuneralhomes.com.
