Shirley Marie Hansen, age 61, of Glendive, passed away with her family by her side on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the Glendive Medical Center in Glendive.
Visitation were held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at the Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Funeral Services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 18, 2015 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Glendive with Pastor Greg Lucido officiating. Interment will be held in the Dawson Memorial Cemetery in Glendive. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Shirley was born on March 23, 1954 in Jamestown, N.D., a daughter of Frank and Rose (Gyolai) Dassinger. She was raised and educated in Bismarck, N.D. where she graduated from St. Mary’s High School with the class of 1972. Shirley was active on the high school cheerleading squad. Following high school she moved to Glendive and attended Dawson Community College where she met her future husband Randy Hansen.
Shirley and Randy were united in marriage on September 21, 1974 in Glendive and to this union two children were born. She worked for JcPenney’s for three years before her children were born and then she stayed home raising them. Seven years later when the children were attending school, Shirley went to work for Reynolds Market until her retirement in May of 2014.
Shirley was an excellent cook. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, camping, fishing at Fort Peck, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. Shirley’s family was very dear to her and she loved them very much. She always made sure to keep very close contact with all of them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Rose Dassinger.
She is survived by her loving husband, Randy Hansen of Glendive; son, Scott (Nikki) Hansen of Evergreen, Colo.; daughter, Kelly Nicholas of St. Charles, Ill.; grandchildren, Hailey, Kylie and Tyson Hansen; siblings, Bob Dassinger of Seattle, Wash., Carol (Leo) Hilzendeger of Yakima, Wash., Rick (Jean) Dassinger of Minneapolis, Minn., Ron (Ann) Dassinger of Topeka, Kan., Marie (Larry) Hart of Laurel, Mont., Molly Jones of Anaconda, Mont. and Karen Walker of Killeen, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
