Jeffrey Robert Seborg, 54 of Billings, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2017, with the ones he loved the most by his side.

Jeff was born on June 27, 1963 in Glendive to Dwayne and Myrna Seborg. He grew up in Glendive and was a graduate of the Class of ’81.  Jeff moved to Billings and attended EMC for a brief time before entering the workforce. He had many jobs over the years, including working in the oil field, and various sales positions. Most recently, he was selling insurance at Farmers Union Insurance in Laurel.

Jeff had a passion for the great outdoors. Hunting and fishing made him a very happy man! Each year, family and friends would gather at Elk Camp in the Missouri River Breaks. (No Girls Allowed.)  He had dreams of building a cabin there.  These trips were the highlight of his year even though he struck out and never tagged a bull elk with his bow.

Throughout his life, Jeff was an avid sports fan and followed the Dallas Cowboys and Jeff Gordon. Although Jeff was always a smaller guy, he loved to eat! He grew up on his mother’s cooking and always looked forward to a Chocolate Angel Food cake on his birthday, a special treat made from scratch by his one-and-only daughter, Kaitlin. He was a great dad to his little girl and she was his life.

Jeff had a true heart of gold, a generous man with a tender heart for helping others in need. He had a true respect for Veterans and loved acknowledging any and all vets for their dedication to our country. Something as little as a handshake or buying a meal for a veteran would make him very happy.

Jeff is survived by his only child Kaitlin and her husband Austin Nickisch of Billings; best friend and partner Stephanie Pinch and her daughter Josie of Billings; and brother Doug Seborg, his wife Cara and their children Dane, Brittani, Brody, Jordan and Cole of Glendive. While there are other people near and dear to Jeff that aren’t listed, just know we love you all and know you loved being able to call Jeff uncle, cousin, nephew and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents Dwayne and Myrna; aunt Boni Dame, who he loved dearly; as well as SO MANY other special family members, friends, and beloved pets that will keep him company in heaven!

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Elaine Roos

Elaine Roos, age 106, of Miles City, formerly of Terry, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2017 at her home in Miles City.

On May 9, 1911, Elaine was born in Glendive to Patrick and Jane McGovern, the oldest of six girls and one boy. At one-month old, her Dad took Mother and baby home in a lumber wagon to the homestead tarpaper shack, 14 by 18 feet, 25 miles west of Glendive. The trip from Glendive took two long days.

Water used for drinking and cooking had to be packed to the house by bucket from a spring in the canyon down by the barn. Also, there was a large cistern on the back porch to collect rainwater. She remembers her Dad hauling wet snow in the spring of the year to help fill the cistern.

The root cellar kept potatoes over until spring and other perishables were also stored there. Elaine walked to school about two miles from home. The school was the social center of the community. School was in session 6 or 7 months of the year (depending on funds), except first and second grades went 3 months in the summer.

Elaine graduated from Dawson County High School 87 years ago. She attended Teachers’ College in Dillon for a year and then taught 4 years in the Union community. After 3 years of courtship, Elaine married Joe Roos on May 23, 1936, followed by a big wedding dance at Union Hall.

They rented a farm near Roos’ and then moved to the Roos homestead in 1941 after Joe’s father’s death. They farmed and ranched there until 1976 when they moved to their home in Terry. Elaine moved to the Eagles’ Manor in July of 2012.

Elaine was very active in the Catholic Church, had a strong faith, and volunteered 41 years of continuous service there, some of which included washing alter cloths until they sparkled. She spent numerous hours at the Prairie County Museum and was a 4-H leader for several years.

Between family gatherings, church functions, community center activities and dancing, Elaine had little loafing time. She preferred it that way—no boredom for her. She crocheted doilies for family and friends.

Her husband; parents; one brother, Gerald; and three sisters, Lucile, Grace and Ruth, preceded Elaine in death.

She is survived by two daughters and one son: Delores (Chris) and their four children: Delite (Darren) Dukart, Clark Cameron, Twila (Craig) Lunde and Connie Cameron; Patricia (Francis) Dobrowski in Reno and their two children: Michael (Pam) and Teresa (Rick) Connell and John (JoAnne) and sons Mark (Gina) and Todd.

She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren: Dani (Tim) Hudson, Tate, Tel and Annika Lunde, Matthew and Andrew Dobrowski, and Nathan and Riley Connell and one great-great-grandson, Coy Hudson. Also, sisters Helen Granmoe and Mary Slagsvold survive.

A Rosary and Vigil Service was held on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 6 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.

Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Terry. Burial following immediately at the family plot in the Prairie County Cemetery. Lunch will follow in the Parish Hall basement.

Should friends desire, memorials might be made to Prairie Community Hospital Foundation Endowment Fund, 409 Bowen Street or PO Box 66, Terry, MT  59349 or to the charity of one’s choice.

Charles James Rickett passed away September 15, 2017 surrounded by his loving family in Billings.

He was born January 31, 1947 in Sidney to Charles Edward and Betty Lee. In 1949, the family moved to Miles City where Charles grew up and graduated from Custer County High School. After high school, he joined the Army National Guard and served in the Army Reserves while also starting his career with the railroad. In 1967, Charles started working for Northern Pacific Railway in Miles City. He transferred to Billings and later Laurel. He relocated to Glendive in 1987 and finished his career with Burlington Northern Santa Fe after 40 years of service.

Charles loved hunting, fishing and camping. He would disappear for multiple weeks every summer and hunting season. The only thing he loved more, was spending time with his family. He brought four children into the world with a previous spouse, Evelyn. He married the love of his life, Kyna, December 30, 1982. They blended their two families together and added a son together. Later in life when moving around became more difficult, he enjoyed visiting, watching movies, reading westerns and farming (Farmville.)

He is survived by his wife, Kyna; two daughters, Tracy and Jamie Roberts (Bruce); two sons, Joshua (Katie) and Ryan (Chelsea); his mother, Betty; three brothers, George, David (Sheila) and Richard; one sister, Susan Peltzer (Robert); ten grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles; daughter, Kimberly Cosens; son, Michael; granddaughter, Desiree Lacquement; grandsons, Damien Lacquement and Trace Roberts; and a great-grandson, Aaron Johnson.

His family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Billings Clinic and the Hospital for the dedication and care provided over the past several years.
