Joan passed away on May 3, 2016 surrounded by family at home.
Born December 8, 1934 to Harry and Lenore Watson in Wibaux. She moved to Glendive and married Clarence E. Harrison on October 10, 1953 and to this union 3 sons were born.
She later married her loving husband Keith D. Fertig on July 3, 1971 and then moved to Carlin, Nev. in 1986.
Joan and Keith dedicated many hours to Little League Baseball and Carlin Coed Softball.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert W. Watson; a sister, Shirley (Reed) Kuntz; and two nephews, Randy W. Watson and Donald E. Reed.
Joan is survived by her loving husband, Keith Fertig; sons, Douglas Harrison, Dan (Vivien) Harrison, and Dean (Tammy) Harrison; several nieces and nephews; many loving grandchildren; and lots of great-grandkids.

Beatrice Birch Clapp
Beatrice Birch Clapp, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, entered (eternal rest) her heavenly home on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at the Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 16, 2016 at the Dawson County Cemetery in Glendive with Reverend Greg Lucido officiating. Beatrice was born June 30, 1936 in Fryburg, N.D. to Florence (Madsen) and Anton Kasalek. She married John (Jack) Birch April 14, 1956. To this union two children were born, Debra and Mike. Beatrice married Fred Clapp on October 10, 1982.
She loved her children and enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved bingo and bowling. She was the caregiver for her mother for many years. She was at various times employed at First Security Bank, Doc n’ Eddy’s and Buttreys.
Beatrice’s family would like to thank all of her friends, family and staff at the Glendive Hospice for all their help and concern.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; and her siblings, Lila, Lorraine, Richard and Gary.
Beatrice is survived by her children, Deborah and Mike; four grandchildren, Sara Bond, Tracee Kuntz, Jillian Kuntz, and Dani Birch; five great-grandchildren, Nyah Kaylor, Stella Bond, Sylas Debusk, Raylon West, and Sylvia West; two sisters-in-law, Sandy Kasalek Cummings and Yvonne Kasalek; one brother-in-law, Everett Gilbert; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Maureen Ann McGovern
Maureen Ann McGovern, age 65, of Fergus Falls, Minn. died unexpectedly on Friday, May 13, 2016, at her home.
Maureen was born on September 4, 1950, to Kenneth B. and Ritamary (Reynolds) McGovern in Glendive. She graduated from Dawson County High School. After graduation, she attended Carroll College in Helena, where she majored in medical records.
After college, Maureen moved to Fergus Falls and immediately began her career at Lake Region Healthcare. She retired in 2015 as the Department Manager in Health Information Systems.
Maureen was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Fergus Falls and a book club. Above all, she loved following her nieces’ and nephews’ activities, attending family events and visiting her home in Montana. She enjoyed reading, watching movies and entertaining with her friends and neighbors. She was known for her big heart, she made everyone feel special. To be a friend of Maureen was to be special. Maureen had a way of making everyone feel that way, unforgettable, that is what she was.
She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth McGovern; and a brother, Terry McGovern.
Maureen is survived by her mother, Rita McGovern of Glendive; her brothers, Kevin (Sandi) McGovern and Greg (Debbie) McGovern all of Glendive, Brian (Janette) McGovern of Billings, and Todd (Stacy) McGovern of Fergus Falls; a sister, Ann (Howard) Walsh of Laurel; and her nieces and nephews, Kelly (Brian) Bourgeois, Beth (James) Zerr, Mike (Kelly) Gilbert, Kelsey (fiancé Devon) Gilbert, Brendan McGovern, Matthew McGovern, Lauren (fiancé Eric) McGovern, and Nick Walsh.
Visitation was held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 16, 2016 at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls with a prayer vigil at 6:30 p.m. and The Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial took place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Fergus Falls with Fathers Alan Wielinski and Bill Gamber and Deacon Chuck Kampa officiating.

Carol Friederichs
Carol Friederichs, age 84, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at St. Vincent’s Healthcare in Billings.
Visitation was held from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at the Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the Silha Funeral Home in Glendive with Reverend Avis Anderson officiating. Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. CST on Friday, May 20, 2016 at the Velva Community Cemetery in Velva, N.D. with Reverend Tim Johnson officiating. Carol was born on March 7, 1932 in Morris, Minn., the daughter of Chris and Mabel (Christopherson) Awsumb. Shortly after her birth the family moved to Bergen, N.D. on the family homestead and several years later moved to Velva, N.D. where she graduated from Velva High School with the class of 1949. Following her high school education she attended Minot State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She later received her Master’s Degree in Education from the University of North Dakota.
After completing her education, Carol taught in Willow City, N.D. for one year and then taught at the Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, S.D. for another year. In 1957, Carol moved to Glendive where she worked in the school system as a teacher, a counselor and as the school psychologist until her retirement in 1993. While in Glendive she met Joseph Friederichs. They were married on June 18, 1963 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glendive, and to this union two daughters were born, Marie and Ann. Early in their marriage, Joe and Carol spent their summers in Glacier National Park where Joe was a park ranger. Joe and Carol made their home in Glendive. Joe passed away in 2006. In 2011 Carol decided to move to Sidney to be closer to her daughter and favorite son-in-law. She resided at The Lodge in Sidney where she made many friends including staff and residents. She enjoyed her time there.
Carol enjoyed reading, camping and fishing, and was an avid sports fan, particularly professional tennis and football. She also had a big heart for animals, especially dogs and cats. Carol loved visiting with friends and was always interested in getting to know people.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chris and Mabel; and her husband, Joseph.
Carol is survived by her daughters, Marie (Kelly) Logan of Sidney and Ann Friederichs of Dillon; one sister-in-law, Florence Martin of North Hollywood, Calif.; one brother-in-law, Elmer (Maxine) Friederichs of Kansas City, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Paul Howard Coyan
Paul Howard Coyan, age 91, of Glendive, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at the Eastern Montana Veterans Home in Glendive.

Paul was born on August 1, 1924 in Billings, a son of Paul and Marie (Pelatt) Coyan. He was raised and educated in Glendive, graduating from Dawson County High School with the class of 1942. Following his graduation, Paul enlisted in the United States Army. He served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II and was honorably discharged after four years of service. Paul then returned to Glendive and began a career as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, which he held for the next thirty-eight years. During this time, Paul met Virginia Searer. They were married on September 24, 1949 and to this union three daughters and one son were born. Paul and Virginia had been married for sixty-three years at the time of Virginia’s passing.
He enjoyed bowling, gardening, listening to all types of music and he especially loved designing, building and flying radio controlled airplanes. He was actively involved in the Glendive RC Bush Pilots for over fifty years. Paul loved his family very much and enjoyed spending as much time with them as he could.
Paul was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the National Association of Letter Carriers, the VFW Post #1125 and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Marie Coyan; wife, Virginia Coyan; son, Michael Paul Coyan; and brother, Father George Coyan.
Paul is survived by his three daughters, Anne (Doug) Dreher of Devil’s Lake, N.D., Susan (Richard) Folden of Parshall, N.D., and Mary (Barry) Perryman of Reno, Nev.; six grandchildren, Nathan Coyan of Missoula, Erik Coyan of Pappillion, Neb., Kai Coyan of Jamestown, N.D., Jessica Folden of Parshall, Colette (Craig) Smith of Lander, Wyo., and Amber (Matt) Nelson of Laramie, Wyo.; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Dick Coyan of White Bear Lake, Minn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Thomas Dean Schmidt
Thomas Dean Schmidt, known to many as Tom Cat, age 72, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Sunday, May 15, 2016 in Billings. Tom went peacefully after a short illness.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the Silha Funeral Home in Glendive with Father Francis Schreiber officiating. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Tom was born on January 2, 1945 to Joseph and Elizabeth “Betty” (Flink) Schmidt in Glendive, joining his big brother Dale, which completed the family. Tom grew up and attended school in Glendive, where he met his second family, the Littell’s. They took Tom under their wings and loved and accepted him as one of their own. Tom worked at various custodial jobs during his life, including the Washington Middle School in Glendive. Tom finally settled in Reno, Nev. where he worked at the Reno Tahoe Airport until he retired in 2014. Tom was very proud to be an employee of the airport and made many life-long friends while living in Reno. Tom always wanted to come back to the place he called home, Glendive, and did so after he retired. Tom resided in Glendive up until the time of his death.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Betty Schmidt; his brother, Dale; and family friends, Fred, Ollie and Gary Littell.
Tom is survived by his niece, Nadine Schmidt of Great Falls; nephew, Jay (Tessa) Schmidt of Great Falls; nephew, Todd Schmidt of Texas; Bob (Tami) Littell of Glendive.
Tom will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. “Tom Cat” we will truly miss you and your mischievous giggle. We love you!

Daniel "Dan" Francis Ruddy
Daniel “Dan” Francis Ruddy, age 65, of Glendive, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Glendive Medical Center in Glendive.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glendive with Deacon Bob Ackerman officiating. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Dan was born on December 13, 1950 in Glendive to Clifford and Cecelia (Brunelle) Ruddy. He was raised and educated in Glendive, attending Sacred Heart School through the eighth grade and completing his education at Dawson County High School where he graduated with the class of 1969. After high school Dan went to work for the Northern Pacific railroad until he was drafted into the United States Army. Dan served as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne during the Vietnam War era. Upon his honorable discharge, Dan returned to Glendive and the Burlington Northern railroad.
Dan was united in marriage on January 29, 1977 to Kris Thompson and to this union three children were born. Later that same year Dan was transferred to Miles City for seven years and then to Greybull, Wyo. for seven more years before returning to Glendive to finish out his career. Dan retired from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad in 2007 when his health wouldn’t allow him to continue his work. He enjoyed his work on the railroad. Dan was one of only a few specialists who could wire explosives in order to clear the track. He worked well under pressure and was always called upon after a train derailment. Dan is the only Roadmaster to pick up the Barnum & Baileys Circus Train.
Dan enjoyed spending money, especially on cars, particularly Dodge. He was always buying, trading or leasing cars. During thirty-nine years of marriage, he and Kris had owned forty-three vehicles. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson and woodworking. Dan especially loved spending time with his family and friends. He liked to socialize and never turned anyone away from his backyard pool or anyone who needed a hand, you could always count on Dan to help anyone in need. Dan’s favorite holidays were Christmas and the 4th of July, he enjoyed the decorating and all of the explosions.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Clyde Thompson; and brother-in-law, Steve Thompson.
Dan is survived by his wife, Kris Ruddy of Glendive; three children, Rebecca “Becky” (Glenn) Quinnell, Rachel (Greg) Anderson and Ryan Ruddy all of Glendive; three grandchildren, Annie Ruddy, Julianna Ruddy and Levi Anderson; one great-grandchild on the way; brother, Mike Ruddy of Glendive; two sisters, Mary Ann Ruddy of Portland, Ore. and Susie (Les) Frank of Glendive; mother-in-law, Lorraine Thompson of Glendive; brother-in-law, Ken (Maggie) Thompson of Kalispell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Wallace "Wally" Broeder
Wallace “Wally” Broeder, age 69, of Glendive passed away on Friday, May 27, 2016, losing a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Memorial services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church in Glendive with Pastor Will Johnson and Reverend Avis Anderson officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at 4:00 p.m. in Dawson County Cemetery. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Wally was born on April 4, 1947, to Walter and Esther (Nygaard) Broeder in Minot, N.D. He moved to Glendive at an early age where he attended elementary and high school. He participated in many sports during his high school years and especially enjoyed Legion Baseball. Wally attended Montana State University and during a break in school was drafted into the United States Army and served in the 41st Artillery Unit in Germany. He ended his duty as a SP5 and always felt lucky that he served his two-year deployment in Germany rather than Vietnam.
In 1968 Wally married Bonnie Feisthamel and they were together for 48 years. They had two children, Wes who was born in Germany and Becky who was born in Bozeman, where they lived while Wally attended MSU after the service. He later attended North Dakota State School of Science, where he received his heating/air conditioning and electrical certificates.
He had a strong work ethic and he and his brother Warren owned and operated Walt’s Electric for 40 years until they closed their business in 2014.
He was a member of the Glendive Fire Department for over 30 years and was an EMT and a member of the Glendive Ambulance Department for over 40 years, 30 of those being the ambulance director. He felt very privileged that he had a part in getting the ambulance facility built. He was also very proud of the EMT’s and staff of the ambulance department.
Wally loved going elk hunting in Western Montana in the fall, and since the 70’s he went many times. His hunting buddy and good friend, Fred Scott, was always a partner in crime and good friend, Phil Auble often joined them, along with others over the years. They seldom got their elk but always had a good time.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Esther.
Wally is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Bonnie of Glendive; his children, Wes (Johnlyn) of Spearfish, S.D. and Becky (Will) of Missoula; his two grandchildren, whom he loved more than anything, MacKenna and Logan Broeder. He is also survived by his brothers, Warren (Kathy) and Allan (Judy); and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Zion Lutheran Church, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation in Missoula, GMC Hospice or to the charity of one’s choice.

Alyce Darlene Warrenburg
Alyce Darlene Warrenburg, age 76, formerly of Glendive passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 surrounded by her loving family at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Billings.

Alyce was born on April 22, 1940 in Glendive, a daughter to Adam and Frieda (Mittlestead) Buxbaum. She was raised and educated in Glendive, graduating from Dawson County High School with the class of 1958 as Homecoming Queen. Following her high school education she went to stewardess school in Denver, Colo. Upon graduating she worked for United Airlines. In her travels she met Keith Warrenburg and they married on December 30, 1962 and to their union two children were born. They moved to Glendive in 1969 and raised their family. She was a housewife until 1972 when she worked briefly for KXGN the local TV and radio station. Alyce worked for the Glendive Public School system as a secretary for 30 years. Many of her years spent at Washington School and later transferred to Jefferson School. She then retired on May 31, 2002, because she just couldn’t train another principal.
Alyce enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling, Mary Kay, playing cards, gourmet club dinners, square dancing with Keith and spending time with her family including many camping trips and family gatherings. Her passion was to spend time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Warrenburg; her parents, Adam and Frieda Buxbaum; her brother, LeRoy Buxbaum; and brothers-in-law, Donnie Barthel and Ronnie Colbrese.
Alyce is survived by her sisters, Betty Barthel of Glendive and Jane Colbrese of Billings; her daughter, Teri (Dave) Stephens and their children Nathan (Carley) Stephens, Nichole Stephens, Jacob Stephens and Melissa Stephens all of Spokane Valley, Wash.; her son, Steven (Lona) Warrenburg of Billings and their children, Ashly Warrenburg of Glendive, Erin Warrenburg of Great Falls and Emily Warrenburg of Billings; nine great-grandchildren, Riley, Brody, Koby, Taevyn, Griffin, Boston, Elyse, Kemdyn and Keegan; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Alyce was a woman of great poise and intelligence. She will be missed by all.

John and Gertrude (Gertie) Peplinski went to be with our Lord on October 8, 2015 in the early morning hours, only 3 hours apart. John (95) and Gertie (93) resided in Lake Wales, Fla. at the time of their death.

Carl Wallace Anderson
Carl Wallace Anderson, 96, passed away on June 3, 2016 at Camden Clark Medical Center.
He was born in Hodges, Mont., son of the late Carl Helge and Tilda Helvik Anderson. He graduated from Montana State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering and was a life time member of the Alumni Association and of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
He retired from E.I. Dupont Company in 1979 with 37 plus years of service having worked in the Explosives, Manhattan Project in Oakridge, Tenn. and Hanford, Wash., Grasselli Chemicals and the Plastics Departments.
He was a 50 year member of both St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and the Vienna Masonic Lodge.
He enjoyed building, refinishing furniture and working in his shop.
He is survived by daughter, Kathleen Anderson Connour and her husband, Charles, of Fairfield Glade, Tenn.; and a son, Robert C. Anderson and his wife, Jolene, of the home; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday June 8, 2016 at the Lambert –Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna, W.Va. with Pastor Lisa Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Parkersburg, W.Va. The family received friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Wanda Koffler
Wanda Koffler, age 53, passed away on June 9, 2016 at Glendive Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Sacred Heart Church.
Wanda was born July 21, 1962 in Sidney and grew up in Great Falls. She settled in Glendive after she married James Koffler.
Wanda graduated from MSUB in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Wanda is survived by her husband, James Koffler; daughter, Jackie Tobin Koffler; and granddaughter, Destiny. She is also survived by her stepchildren: Michael, Paul, Trisha and Joseph; along with her brothers and sisters: Bob, Mary, Warren, Eula, Tom, Dale, Gail and Annette.

Keith Anton Ebelt
Keith Ebelt passed away on Saturday January 9, 2016 in Superior, Mont.
He was born October 10, 1935 in Glendive.
Keith is survived by Ann Marie Ebelt, his loving wife of 62 years; sisters, Bessie, Lillian and Ida Mae; his daughters, Linda (Bob) Stibor of Taft, Calif. and Valerie (Jeff) Baldwin of Las Vegas, Nev.; his son, Rod (Shawn) Ebelt of Spokane Valley, Wash.; six grandchildren, Nikki Ann, Cody, Jill, Kristen and Kyle; and a bunch of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Keith is the son of Anton Ebelt and Clara (Ebelt) Herbst of Glendive who preceded him in death, along with his brother, Gerald (Jerry) Ebelt and step-father Roland (Red) Herbst and granddaughter, Marcia.
Keith is well remembered for his quick wit and generosity by his many friends and family.
He and Ann moved to Superior in 1959 and started to put down their roots. He worked in the construction industry and at the diamond mill. He and Ann later purchased the Texaco station from Homer French. A lot of fond memories come from their time running the “Service station!”
After selling the Texaco, he drove truck for Sears and others. He went back to work at Elko, Nev. and working at Barrck Gold Strike operating heavy machinery until retiring in 1997.
While in Nev. they did a bit of gambling and fishing. Fishing was a great passion of theirs and Keith and Ann fished whenever they got the chance.
Keith was known to spend a bit of time at the local casinos visiting friends and playing the “Nickel Machines.” He especially enjoyed visits from friends and family and always made you laugh at least twice during every visit.
He loved to hunt and was an excellent shot with his hand loaded bullets. He put more meath on the table than we could eat.
Keith was a strong member of the community. He was a member of the Fire Dept., Lions Club, Jaycess and a Charter Member of the Montana Nightriders snowmobile club. He helped people do crazy things like the Demo Derby in Plains and raised more money selling River Derby tickets than anyone ever at the time.
For those of you who knew him in “The Day” we thank you for your friendship through the years and still cherish it to this day.

Dr. Eugene Smith Aby
Dr. Eugene Smith Aby, age 92 of Glendive, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 surrounded by his family at Riverstone Hospice home in Billings.
Eugene was born on June 7, 1924 in Salida, Colo. He was a World War II veteran and was in the 10th Mountain Division. He served in Italy and was part of the battle on Mt. Belvedere. He went to Colorado State University and earned his doctorate in veterinary medicine. He met the love of his life, Jaralee Meakins and they were married on January 6, 1951. His family was his greatest love. Being a veterinarian was his passion and dedicated his life to his profession.
Eugene was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast. He was very artistic. He expressed it through landscaping, sculpting and carving wood. He lived every day as though it was his last. He loved his family, his community and this country. He loved people and their animals. He did the job he was created to do well. He lived a great life and will be missed greatly.
His wife of 65 years preceded him in death on April 18, 2016. He is survived by his four children: Tammy (Ken) Lunde, Jody (Marc) Applegate, Gina (Casey) Thiel, Bart (Abby) Aby; 13 grandchildren, Jason (Julie), Lance (Caitlin), Levi, Markala (Chris), Kelly (Molly), Kyle (Becky), Craig (Meg), Cassie (Josh), Tiffany (Andrew), Ashley, Whitney, Eli, and Alyse; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends on Friday, June 17, 2016 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Glendive United Methodist Church in Glendive. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Glendive United Methodist Church in Glendive. Interment will follow at the Dawson Memorial Cemetery in Glendive. Alfred Kron
Alfred Kron, age 87, of Glendive, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at the Glendive Medical Center.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at the Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 20, 2016 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Glendive with Pastor Greg Lucido officiating. Interment will be in the Dawson Memorial Cemetery in Glendive. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Alfred was born April 1, 1929 in Bessarabia, Romania to Gottlieb and Margarete (Koppenstein) Kron. As a young man he was forced out of Romania by the Russians and fled to Germany where he met his future wife Edeltraud Schreiber. In 1951 Alfred came to the United States sponsored by John Sura by way of Ellis Island, New York, to Glendive. On February 15, 1953 Alfred was united in marriage to the love of his life Edeltraud in Fallon. To this union six children were born. He was a dairy farmer for a little over a year then worked for Johnson Construction until 1962. At that time he started a new venture, Kron Construction, which he owned and operated until the time of his passing.
Alfred loved working, having built numerous homes and buildings in eastern Montana, always taking great pride in his craftsmanship. He enjoyed the challenge of a unique building or home. Nothing was ever cookie cutter about Alfred. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and gardening was a passion to Alfred. As his children left his garden got bigger and he often took his produce to the farmers market for everyone to enjoy. Most important to Alfred was his family, he loved each of them equally and without end.
Alfred served as an elder at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Glendive for many years and sang in the church choir. He also was on the Glendive zoning board.
Alfred was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Otto Kron, John Kron, and Helmut Kron; and one sister, Almeda Kron.
Alfred is survived by his wife, Edeltraud; his six children, Gerhard Kron of Palo Alto, Calif., Rita (Tom) Stortz of Glendive, Claudia (Doug) Frederick of Houston, Texas, Ken (Lee Ann) Kron of Tulsa, Okla., Heidi (Mark) Gauthier of Helena, and Jody (Dennis) Knoll of Glendive; one sister, Alvina Skilton of Chichester, West Sussex, England; one brother, Manfried Kron of Germany; fourteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ricky Delbert Riedlinger
Ricky Delbert Riedlinger, age 59, of Glendive passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at his brother’s home in Rapid City, S.D. surrounded by family.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glendive with Father Francis Schreiber officiating. Rite of Committal will follow in Dawson County Cemetery in Glendive. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Ricky was born on June 20, 1956 in Belle Fourche, S.D., a son of Delbert and Irene (Reinbold) Riedlinger. He was raised and educated in Glendive, attending Jefferson Elementary School, Deer Creek School and graduating high school from Dawson County High School with the class of 1974. Following his education Ricky helped his dad on the family farm and worked for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad as a welder/grinder.
Ricky was extraordinarily proud of his nieces and nephews. He loved them greatly and was the most caring uncle.
He was preceded in death by his father, Delbert.
Ricky is survived by his mother, Irene Riedlinger of Glendive; four siblings, Cindy Riedlinger and her husband Raafat of Cairo, Egypt, Marty Riedlinger and his wife Teri of Rapid City, S.D., Kristy Gress and her partner Ellis Hickel of Wahpeton, N.D., and Brad Riedlinger and his wife Tammy of Laurel; seven nieces and nephews, LeeAnn Sims, Stephanie Thomas, Cory Gress, Travis Gress, Kelsey Gress, Rhea Riedlinger and Conor Riedlinger; and three great-nieces and great-nephews, Tyler Weddle, Hannah Weddle and Greyson Thomas.
