James Lipp

James Lipp, 74, peacefully passed away February 9, 2016, with his family by his side.

Services were held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16, at St. Joseph Church in Mandan followed by military honors provided by the Amvets Club Post 9 of Bismarck, N.D. Burial took place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan. Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway in Bismarck, where a vigil/rosary began at 7 p.m. Visitation was also held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Jim was born on September 12, 1941, in Center, N.D., the son of Stephen and Eva (Mosbrucker) Lipp. He was raised and attended school in Center, N.D. Jim enlisted in the United States Army in 1960 and was stationed in various locations including Fort Ord, Calif., Fort Lewis, Wash., Nevada testing grounds and Wildflecken, Germany. He was honorably discharged in October 1962. He returned to Center, N.D. and worked various jobs before starting his own business, Lipp Drywall in Mandan, N.D.  Eventually his brother Ted became his business partner and took over the business after Jim retired.

On July 20, 1963, Jim married the love of his life Sandy Stone at St. Martins Church in Center, N.D. They had five beautiful children.

Jim belonged to various Fraternal Organizations including his favorite, the Mandan Moose Lodge and the Mandan Eagles Club where he enjoyed playing bingo, Texas Hold’em and shaking dice with his many friends. Jim would do anything for anyone and was a friend to all who met him. He will be deeply missed.

Jim is survived by his children, Becky Robinson (Don Newcomb) of Mandan, Bill (Tracy) Lipp of Bismarck, Tim (Shelly) Lipp of Mandan, Eva (Ron) Crockett of Glendive; his grandchildren, Kari Jo, Preston, Emery, Brayden, Aubree, Brittni, Trevor, Marenah, Christian, Chase and Kenadee; great-grandchildren, Khloe, Lilly and Cruz; sisters, Isabell  Flowers and MaryAnn (Hank) Maertens; brothers, Tom (Kathy) Lipp and Ted (Terrie) Lipp.

He was preceded in death by his son, Michael James Lipp; grandson, Dustin Kessel; sister and brother-in-law, Marcella and Melvin Mittlesteadt; brother-in-law, Doug Flowers; and his parents, Stephen and Eva Lipp.
